Top Five Games of 2015

2015 has got to be one of the happiest and most exciting year in a while for gamers. I can safely say that there were various games and differing tastes to which I was excited for certain titles that others didn't even get drawn towards. In the following simple picks, I will list the top 5 games that have surprised me as well as games that have met my expectations starting from the least to the most exciting:

5th place: Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight definitely outdone itself among its predecessors despite its endless bugs and huge debacle on the PC. I have been very patient with it while playing it and I was torn on whether I should even include it in my top 5 list but I have looked back and realized the quality of the story and the writing makes me forget about any disengaging and annoyance I went through. You can complain about the Batmobile as much as you want and how stale the combat was or how they may have dragged it on in terms of its game design but I can literally describe Batman: Arkham Knight as an art piece that I would love to revisit another time at least.

4th Place: Tales From The Borderlands

Though it had initially come out on 2014 and ended this year, Tales From the Borderlands is easily one of the most engaging story experiences I have had with a Telltale game and it says a lot given that Game of Thrones was followed by it on the same year. Tales From the Borderlands proved to me that not only can you turn a stale and boring IP into an engaging one but it also proves to me that Telltale are best at telling a comedic story rather than an overly dramatic tragedy. I'm not discrediting them for their other work but it's just that I enjoy their comedy a lot more and I could not believe it broke my expectations enough to include it in my list. I also can't wait for a second season for it.

3rd Place: The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 has won Game of The Year in the video game awards of 2015 and though it does deserve the best game, it only deserves the best RPG in my book. I have seen CD Projekt evolve as developers since the first Witcher where the whole map was only a quarter of what The Witcher 3 actually is. The Witcher 3 offered an experience that I will not forget about any time soon and it finally offered the kind of combat I have anticipated from watching the first witcher game's opening. I guarantee you will not find an experience like it any time soon.

2nd Place: Bloodborne

This year started with a bang and ended on the right note with Bloodborne. I couldn't have asked for a better experience especially after The Old Hunters DLC that came out recently. Bloodborne offered way more interesting and innovative mechanics than any Dark Souls game with its high risk/high reward mentality. Let's not forget the unforgettable horrors that lay about the haunting environments as well as its beautiful soundtrack offered an impeccable experience that I would love to talk more about in an upcoming review.

1st Place: Metal Gear Solid V

I wish I could say I don't need to say more from my favorite game of the year title and leave it off on that note. But I know better to say there aren't enough words to describe the feeling I got when Metal Gear Solid V came out. Hideo Kojima has definitely made a one of a kind experience that not only made me love the whole series all over again. Moreover, it also made me connect with a character in a way I never felt before towards a protagonist. Add to that a lot of cinematic details and tricks and symbolism that needed a lot of explanation from my friends that made me appreciate it till this minute. It is one of the best thought provoking experiences I will most likely explain in detail later on, but it deserves my Game of The Year seal of approval.
