I feel like it has been ages since I last wrote a review, but no point dwelling on it. Let us jump right back into it with the game that has been eating most of my time since my last review.
So, PUBG as its better known isn't really famous for anything aside from its game play. It has no story, its graphic are just ok and its really unoptimized to run on most computers. But even with all of this people just keep playing it with no sign of stopping at all and in all honestly I am currently one of those people.
So, for the most part PUBG isn't a very strategically complex game. Yes, cover matters. Yes, your approach to certain areas matter. But, there is also a decent amount of luck involved in the game play as well. It is definitely not enough for me to call this a luck based game, but it is a part of the game.
The core mechanics are also for the most part solid, the shooting, aiming, bullet mechanics, cars and boats all work well enough that the game feels fun. Yes, I am a little flustered when I die and I don't see who killed me, but I've done that to so many other people that I know its entirely fair. Its just a matter of who happened to find what item and how you positioned yourself.
The thing I want to leave off with saying is that this game is what DayZ should have been. This game did in a few months what DayZ has been unable to do in years and everyone responsible for the clusterfuck that is DayZ should be ashamed.
As an overall concept the game is not unique in that it is a battle royale type of game. However, it is the only current game that has it executed on such a large scale with up to 99 players being in a single game. Of equal important is that it has such a massive player base as well meaning that you can easily just jump into a game at a moments notice. An average game also doesn't really take that long last a maximum of around 26ish minutes if you make it to the end. This I think is the key to it being so successful because it a quick and easy game to get in to, the process of actually getting into a game takes almost no time and the game play is rewarding.
