Monument Valley 2

Welcome to another review, guys. Mobile games have a wide array of low tier, indie games from what I've seen. But in the middle of them, we find hidden gems that are worth your time and money. Monument Valley broke the App Store records back in 2014 with its beautiful design and surreal experience. Isometric shapes all over your screen, it starts off with bare minimum instructions and you involuntarily, almost automatically get into it, solving one puzzle after another without any context. Your brain feels stimulated manipulating cogs, levers and shapes all over the map and controlling a miniature character through exquisite and elaborate level designs.

Newer methods of puzzles

The same can be said of the sequel that came out a month ago, only a few additions and changes happened here. The game can be easily finished in 3 hours but like the first one, its definitely a quality over quantity experience. This time you get to control 2 characters, changing the perspective of the map to go through levels. I think the aesthetics complements the surreal atmosphere through its music and design, comprising of switches, bridges, cogs and levers that can be manipulated. Puzzles can be solved through trial and error, a little bit of perspective can solve them as well. I was only stuck in one puzzle where I couldn't realize that shapes can affect the height of the field where the character can traverse a high to a low area or vice versa. Although that took a bit of time, I enjoyed being stuck and resolving it on my own.

This time you get to solve puzzles with 2 characters

I appreciate the game telling me to wear headphones, otherwise I'd be distracted by other things since its music really draws you in and if it was a longer experience, I wouldn't feel how lengthy it is. Monument Valley 2 can be seen as more of the first game but to me that is certainly not a bad thing at all. You can find it in the App Store for 6 dollars. I've been Ahmed Jadaa, see you on my next review
