Inside

I was essentially forced to buy this game as a result of trickery and harassment so that might reflect on my opinion of the game. But, even had that not been the situation I'd think that I'd still feel it was an overhyped experience.

Inside is developed and published by the Playdead who are a Denmark based indie game developer, who also made Limbo. The game just like Limbo can be found on both consoles and the PC.

Its really hard for me to divorce Inside from Limbo since they are essentially the same game with some minor differences here and there when it comes to the mechanics. Visually though, inside is clearly the more well realised game. However, that didn't really make any better of an experience to be honest. Yes there were some really tense moments in the game and some really unnerving creatures but that isn't something that is unique to inside in anyway.

In terms of the narrative, there really isn't one. Yes there are is more than one ending to the game, but the fact that fans have spend their time building all these varied theories about the game just shows how little there is tying it all together. People are just trying to fill the gap that left empty by the developers and I honestly never felt interested enough to ever bother trying to figure out what was happening in the game itself.

I don't really understand why Inside got all the acclaim it did, its essentially just a colorised version of Limbo and despite the fact that I loved Limbo I'm not really a fan of calling a game ground breaking when its essentially just a slightly improved version of a previous game. I can't honestly recommend this game due to its price, short length and striking similarity to Limbo. I'd honestly recommend saving your money and buying Limbo if you haven't yet or just replaying it, its essentially the same game from the same developer.
